ZURICH (Basel) TO AMSTERDAM
Day 1 | Basel, Switzerland. Raise your glass to the marvellous cruise ahead of you at this evening’s welcome reception. Your journey into wonder is about to begin. (Please ensure your flight arrives before 1.30pm). (D)
Day 2 | Breisach, Germany. Freechoice — Discover the mystical Black Forest during a hike and cable car ride or enjoy a visit to the fairy-tale French town of Colmar. Alternatively, if you’re feeling more active, take a guided bike ride from Breisach to Colmar. Tonight, you’ll get to join the Captain for your official welcome dinner. (B,L,D)
Day 3 | Strasbourg, France. Freechoice — Visit Strasbourg, where you’ll discover La Petite France and stroll through the old town, with its half-timbered houses and distinctive Alsatian winstubs, or journey to Mittelbergheim in the Alsace and sample some of the best wines the region has to offer. Or why not taste your way around the local market with your on board chef through our ‘Shop with a Chef’ offering. Enrich — Enjoy a private tour of the Baroque Palace of Rastatt, one of the most magnificent historic venues in the region, before experiencing a sublime classical concert in its resplendent hall. It’ll be an evening of grandeur unlike any other, and a rare chance to collect memories that you may cherish for a lifetime. (B,L,D)
Day 4 | Mannheim, Germany. Freechoice — Explore the historic university town of Heidelberg, with its fine Renaissance Castle, or experience the thrill of the Hockenheim Formula 1 track, with a museum visit and an insider tour of the circuit. (B,L,D)
Day 5 | Rüdesheim. Rhine Gorge. Succumb to charming Rüdesheim, where you’ll board the ‘Winzerexpress’ mini-train for a guided visit of Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. Afterwards, enjoy a cable car ride to the Niederwald Monument for a spectacular bird’s eye view of the river. Later, you can look forward to unrivalled views across the spectacular World Heritage-listed Rhine Gorge. (B,L,D)
Day 6 | Cochem. A medieval gem resting on the banks of the Moselle River, Cochem will make you feel as if you are stepping directly off the ship and into a fairy tale. Explore this charming city on your guided tour, culminating in your visit of the iconic Reichsburg Castle. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. (B,L,D)
Day 7 | Moselle Valley Cruising. Appreciate the true allure of the Moselle Valley from the opulence of your Scenic Space-Ship, as you delight in a full day cruise. Or if you’re feeling energetic, join a picturesque guided bike ride to the pretty village of Bernkastel, where you’ll be welcomed back aboard your luxury Scenic Space-Ship. (B,L,D)
Day 8 | Bernkastel. Freechoice — Journey to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for a guided tour, and enjoy some free time to discover the many delights of one of Europe’s smallest countries. Alternatively, take a relaxing guided walk through Trier, or take in beautiful Bernkastel. (B,L,D)
Day 9 | Koblenz, Germany. On arrival in Koblenz take advantage of a guided tour of this historic city, lapped by the waters of two of Europe’s most beautiful rivers. Sundowners — Board a cable car in Koblenz for a scenic journey over the Rhine River to the impressive Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. It’ll be a moment to remember, and a great opportunity to mingle with newfound friends against yet another spectacular backdrop, whilst toasting the day’s end. (B,L,D)
Day 10 | Duisburg. Freechoice — Home to the largest inland harbour in the world, the city of Duisburg is just waiting to surprise and delight you, so take advantage with a guided tour. Alternatively, try something a little different with a visit to the Zollverein industrial site, once the largest and most productive coal mine in Europe. (B,L,D)
Day 11 | Maastricht. Holland’s oldest fortified city, Maastricht is a popular destination with a welcoming multicultural atmosphere. Enjoy a guided tour of its magnificent buildings and historic cobblestone town centre, where you can indulge in some fine dining and excellent shopping. Alternatively, explore the city at your own pace with Scenic Tailormade, your own personal GPS device which also provides expert insights on the city’s many historic points of interests. (B,L,D)
Day 12 | Nijmegen. Soak up the scenery from the Sun Deck this morning, or enjoy an on board cooking demonstration by the chef as we cruise to Nijmegen. Freechoice — Take a guided city tour of Nijmegen, one of the three oldest cities in the Netherlands. Or you can choose to explore the Arnhem Airborne museum and learn about the Battle of Arnhem. The Airborne Experience allows you to follow in the footsteps of the British parachutists who made their way across dangerous terrain to Arnhem in September 1944. Alternatively, enjoy a guided cycling tour through Nijmegen and its surrounds. (B,L,D)
Day 13 | Veere, Holland. Freechoice — Marvel at the modern wonder that is Holland’s Delta Works, including a guided visit through the Storm Surge Barrier. Alternatively, choose a guided tour through the quaint streets of Veere, or cycle the town and view the surrounding dykes. Freechoice Dining — This evening savour delicious Dutch delicacies at your choice of three superb dining locations, each presenting fine cuisine from villages in this region of the Netherlands. Day 14 | Antwerp, Belgium. Freechoice — Be seduced by beautiful World Heritage-listed Bruges or discover delightful Antwerp on a guided walking tour, followed by some leisure time. Then sit back and enjoy your afternoon cruise to your final destination, Amsterdam. (B,L,D)
Day 15 | Amsterdam, Holland. After a delicious breakfast, prepare to head home. It may be the end of your cruise, but it’s the beginning of a lifetime of fond memories. (Please schedule flights to depart after midday). (B)
