AmaWaterways Garners Gold and Silver Magellan Awards from Travel Weekly Magazine
Los Angeles, CA —
AmaWaterways, the premier river cruise line operating throughout Europe, Russia and Vietnam/Cambodia, has received Gold and Silver 2010 Magellan Awards from Travel Weekly Magazine.

AmaWaterways, the premier river cruise line operating throughout Europe, Russia and Vietnam/Cambodia, has received Gold and Silver 2010 Magellan Awards from Travel Weekly Magazine. Judged by a panel of travel industry experts, the Magellan Awards honor the best in travel across a broad range of industry segments. Travel Weekly honored AmaWaterways’ new MS AmaBella with a Gold Magellan Award in the category of River Cruise Ship, and also bestowed a Silver Magellan award on AmaWaterways in the River Cruising category.

“All of us at AmaWaterways are proud to have been honored with these prestigious Magellan Awards from Travel Weekly, and knowing that it comes from judges who are industry experts, with extremely high standards of excellence, it is even more satisfying,” said Rudi Schreiner, President of AmaWaterways.

The AmaBella is the seventh custom-designed amenity-filled ship to join the AmaWaterways fleet cruising the Danube, Rhine, Main and Mosel rivers in Europe. AmaBella joins the AmaDagio (launched 2006), AmaLegro (2007), AmaCello (2008), AmaDante (2008), AmaLyra (2009) and AmaDolce (2009).

Distinctive features aboard the award-winning AmaBella include staterooms that average 214 square feet, with the majority of them boasting revolutionary “Twin balconies” consisting of a full balcony plus a French balcony. Additionally, the ship features a range of alternative dining choices, a library with fireplace, heated swimming pool on the Sun Deck, plus the AmaWaterways exclusive “Infotainment” system, offering complimentary high-speed Internet access, complimentary first-run Hollywood movies, premium English-language satellite channels, a selection of travel videos on demand, plus computer functionality, all on the stateroom flat-panel TV. As with all the AmaWaterways vessels on the Danube, Rhine, Main and Mosel Rivers, AmaBella features complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the ship. Sailing dates for this magnificent vessel are available in October, November and December 2011.

AmaWaterways is known for its personalized service levels, gourmet cuisine featuring fresh fish, local produce and regional wines, and nightly entertainment that highlights the rich cultural diversity of the line’s cruise itineraries.

“We are extremely proud of the Silver Magellan Award in the overall river cruising category, as it recognizes the service levels, innovative ship design and in-depth shore excursion experiences that AmaWaterways is known for,” notes Schreiner. The line is also known for such pioneering concepts as French balconies; complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks with dinner and Champagne with breakfast; complimentary specialty coffees and bottled water, plus a fleet of bicycles for enjoying complimentary guided tours or exploring on one’s own.

AmaWaterways will introduce the MS AmaVerde, a sister ship to Amaella, in Europe in 2011. In Russia, the MS AmaKatarina will begin cruising between Moscow and St. Petersburg. The most luxurious ship on the Volga-Baltic Waterway, the 212-passenger AmaKatarina will feature ten stateroom categories and four suite categories, with accommodations ranging up to 452 square feet. The majority of staterooms will feature balconies, and the ship will also include a conference hall, second dining room, sauna and solarium.

In Vietnam and Cambodia, the brand-new 124-passenger MS AMALOTUS will join La Marguerite in offering 7-night cruises from Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh City. The elegant vessel will boast 226 square-foot deluxe staterooms with all the amenities of a fine hotel. All suites and staterooms offer outside accommodations, with more than 82 percent featuring balconies. READ MORE about AmaWaterways river cruises.
