7 Days | Islands of New England


Day 1 |Warren, Rhode Island. Embark.  Your adventure through the whaling and maritime history of classic New England begins this morning. Admire Rhode Island’s rugged coastline as you sail from Warren, located a few miles from Providence, and cruise through Narragansett Bay, recently named one of National Geographic’s Best Adventure Destinations. Sail the Sakonnet River enroute to Cuttyhunk, MA, the last in the remote chain of Elizabeth Islands off Cape Cod. With less than 100 year-round residents, tranquil Cuttyhunk offers an experience of days gone by.

Day 2 | Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. Picturesque Nantucket Island is the perfect start to your voyage. This morning, learn the island’s history on an optional guided tour. After lunch, treat yourself to a second optional tour beginning at Nantucket Vineyards, and sample fine libations like Chardonnay aged in French Oak barrels and peppery Port wine. Continue to Cisco Brewery and enjoy a sampling of locally crafted beers, including “Whale’s Tale Pale Ale.” Later, take a trip through maritime history at the Nantucket Whaling Museum or stroll through town to admire the historic clapboard homes. This evening enjoy the sea breeze and star filled skies as we set sail from Nantucket to Martha’s Vineyard, MA.

Day 3| Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Nantucket’s laidback cousin, Martha’s Vineyard, welcomes you. Browse the shops and galleries in Vineyard Haven or bike to scenic Oak Bluffs. A local expert educates and entertains you on an optional tour of the island. This afternoon, enjoy an optional tour to the Offshore Ale Company and taste a selection of hand-crafted microbrews. Tonight, the sounds and stories of the sea come alive during onboard entertainment.

Day 4 | New Bedford, Massachusetts. The seaside city of New Bedford was once one of the world’s premier whaling ports. Take an optional excursion to learn about the rich history at the New Bedford Whaling National Historic Park and Whaling Museum. After lunch, enjoy an optional tasting tour to Westport Rivers Winery and Travessia Urban Winery, both specializing in wine made from Massachusetts grown grapes. This evening, an onboard entertainer introduces you to “A Fisherman’s Life.”

Day 5 | Block Island, Rhode Island. A quaint island retreat, Block Island is as gorgeous as it is unpretentious. A lifetime resident and local expert entertains and educates you on an optional tour of the island. Visit breathtaking Mohegan Bluffs, where green hills plunge toward crashing waves, and behold the landmark Block Island Southeast Lighthouse. This evening enjoy a traditional, New England-style lobster bake en route to beautiful Newport, RI, known for its spectacular mansions.

Day 6 | Newport, Rhode Island. An optional morning tour of Newport visits The Breakers, a magnificent Gilded Age “summer cottage.” After lunch, enjoy an optional walking tour with Newport Gourmet Tours. Begin at the historic Hotel Viking where you will tour the kitchen and meet the Head Chef. Sample delicious cheeses complemented by the perfect wine pairing at some of the city’s premier gourmet shops. You will also visit a restaurant in a former casino, taste a former mayor’s famed marinara recipe, and savor a lesson from an artisan chocolatier. Tonight, enjoy the tunes of a local musical trio.

Day 7 | Warren, Rhode Island. Disembark. Today before disembarking in Warren, pass idyllic Prudence Island, RI, home to a thriving oyster regeneration project created by Captain Luther H. Blount, which is still funded by his foundation.
