ITINERARY SPOTLIGHT SERIES
Articles and reviews on river cruise and small ship cruise itineraries.

Members of the Premier Team always look forward to writing articles and reviews for the Itinerary Spotlight Series!
It is the first thing they want to do upon returning from a river or small ship cruise. They want to give our customers and site visitors the "inside scoop" on all the places they've seen and discovered; every nook and cranny. As with all of our our spotlight series, each itinerary spotlight article pertains to every aspect and detail of the itinerary. That way, we can provide our customers and site visitors with unique perspectives and in depth commentary that will help them select, plan and prepare for their cruise vacations.

Our informative Spotlight Series is yet another reason to work with one of our Personal Travel Planners who are experts on all things to do with river and small ship cruising.
Why? They’ve been guests on the river and small ship cruise lines we write about. Not only do our cruise experts know about each cruise line and each of their ships, but they've personally experienced a huge number of itineraries upon the majority of the rivers and coastal waterways in all of the river and small ship cruise regions around the world. They know exactly what each itinerary can offer our customers — what itineraries are great for first-timers, and what itineraries are best for more experienced cruisers. They know what types of sights, sounds, cuisines, beverages, shopping venues and goodies, and more that you'll experience; they'll be able to recommend places to see, where to eat, and things to do that you won't read about in any guide book. Their experiences will help you get an insight to the cultures, people, and history you'll be visiting.

Our cruise experts are really your Personal Travel Planners. They'll show you how to immerse yourself in every destination, each port, the towns and cities, and the surrounding countrysides you visit during your cruise. Bottom line: because they have extensive, first-hand knowledge about the itineraries they recommend, our experts have all the answers for you! If you have any questions after reading our Spotlight Series articles, don't hesitate to call one of our experts for the answers, more info, and to book — 1-855-255-1200.

Take a look at our current Itinerary Spotlight series below. Experienced and "first-time" river cruisers should not miss these articles... Happy reading!

A Tale of Two Wanderers on a Drive and a Cruise through Burgundy & Provence Douro River Valley Tulip Time in the Netherlands
My wife (EJ) and I headed to Europe in April 2017, to explore and enjoy a few days on a driving trip across the Provence region, then take a 7-night Burgundy & Provence river cruise aboard Emerald Waterways beautiful new ship, the Liber†é. Was our trip a success? You bet! What you may remember about Portugal, or more likely the wines of Portugal, will probably take you back to your college days of drinking a bottle of Mateus Rosé wine and then placing a candle in the bottle to form a drip candle. What you probably didn't know: at that time, Portugal’s Douro Valley was the world’s first officially designated wine region. No, not France. Not Germany. Not even the Napa Valley. The Douro was the first! The most colorful river cruise in the world! We’d like to recommend a sure-shot for creating new memories… a Tulips & Windmills or another river cruise through the Waterways of Holland & Belgium. The first thought that entered my mind is that anyone who has ever taken or thought about taking a fall New England car trip to view the changing of the colors will love these itineraries; it’s like New England on steroids!
Passau to Budapest
7 Blissful nights on the beautiful Blue Danube... a perfect blend of cruising, touring and relaxation. We’ve been to Europe plenty of times, usually just traveling around on our own by car or train. Frankly, we were tired of all the time spent getting to/from airports and train stations to those places we were truly interested in seeing. When an opportunity to take a river cruise on the Danube came up we jumped at the chance. That was a great decision!
